It’s curious to see the comic with so much detail done in the background assuming that in general, in most of the strips the background is just a single color wall or minimalist backgrounds
Must be one **** of a arcade. I had to Google it, Metal Gear Arcade does exist but was never too popular and was never released outside of Japan (thus why the game is only in Japanese)
I actually remember playing a very amazing Japanese arcade when I was around 10 years old.
It had movement sensors so the character ducked when you did and leaned when you did. By the time it was Game Over I was soaked in sweat.
Hey, on a sidenote, may I ask:
How did Harvey…um….well……die?
A looonngg time ago! You’d have to ask Harvey; I’m not old enough to remember! 🙂 (Sorry, SZ; I really don’t remember, but it was long ago. It’s also been brought up in commentary before.
(I’m pretty sure about all this, at least. 😉 If I’m wrong, I’m also “pretty sure” someone will jump in here and correct me! 🙂 🙂 🙂 )
Harvey’s Game Over is something we never really discussed in great detail. Harvey wasn’t even supposed to be a main character, so the direction of the comic was never meant to revolve around him. Personally I like to think his Game Over was incredibly lame. Like, maybe he choked on a lettuce leaf on a random Tuesday.
Looks like a mess of an arcade game. Now LA Machinegun, that was everything an arcade shooter should be. Flying around shooting missiles out of the air, blowing up robots, and saving the president by blasting everything around him but not the polygonal Commander and Chief himself.
Are the arcade casings lit up? I noticed the purple and blue ones are switching places otherwise, while the red-pink one turns gray on panels 2, 3, and 6.
Must be difficult to play games when the arcade boxes also duck and weave. 😛
I had made a joke with my friend on how Konami was going to mess up Metal Gear by making ,MGS: The Gun. It would be like like the Aliens 3 game , only with random soldiers, The Patriot and the Boss.
I really love your comic where we found lots of references to classic games, discover new stuffs about this impressive world of games and your art style is impecable.
I just have one constructive criticism about your work: how the speech ballons are placed on the panel.
For instance, check the last panel. “Let’s play something else” could be attached right after with “Please, don’t”, in the bottom.
Sometimes I have to read the same panel twice, as I find myself lost among the speeches.
This is a thing now?

That… looks complicated.
Poor Rick , strongly deceived ……… I have to admit that these “fully stranger language” games are often pi**ing off to play with
But don’t be so caustic , Nicole ^_^”
Rick looks like Terminator
Don’t ask to Nicole to be Sarah ^_^”
A futuristic, japanese 3d game with headset and communication… in an arcade room next to a pac-man game?
Arcades have become such a niche within the US, I can honestly believe this is more of a Arcade museum that caters to game nuts like Kade.

Biomedical sensor pads? Pshah, they’re so last decade.
Get a cortical scanner or some other neural pathway analysis device.

Sounds like good exercise! …whether you want it or not. 🙂
No one knows. Harvey is so old he doesn’t even remember it himself. Or at least that what he claims. 😉
Really? When was this revealed?

Ooooh Tim’s gonna be angry, I said “he” when I should’ve said “it”! I’m a dead girl, guys.
Maybe THAT was Harvey’s lame Game Over: it misidentified some monster, and got ended. 😛

Oh the Silent Hill arcade machine is a thing too.

Huh. I just noticed that the word “Savestate” on the home screen will randomly load up as brown or blue.
Good eye! Been that way since day one, for Nicole and Kade’s fur color but nobody has mentioned it before that I know of.
Playing that arcade game is almost as complicated as flying a helicopter! XD
