Okay, okay so humor me on this. What is there to have fun with in this game? All the sidequests are the same, there’s no progression, there’s no real dungeons to raid or say massive NPC ships to attack and loot. The only “fun” you get is watching just how stupid the enemy AI is or griefing some random twats for about ten minutes, before you realize “Oh wait, there’s no real punishment for doing this, neither to them or me”
The Gamecube version was good since it was all on the one disc unlike the Dreamcast version which required two and the load times were faster. It also had more story content and side quests to do, namely the Bounties where you had to hunt down other pirates.
But that came at the cost of sound compression. Sounds would often desync from the animations and the music is notably worse in quality. Some songs didn’t even loop properly, most noticeably the Gigas theme.
Yeah. Plus the GC had a bunch of extra stuff like the bounty missions. And the one girl that kept chasing you. All that made your level extra high. The new battles was balanced to match the new leves. The old bosses where not. So at the time you got to the last part of the game, having done all the new extra fights. Your level was why higher then what you normally would have after a playtrough(unless you spend hours grinding), this made the last boss fights in the GC version a walk in the park.
While these “in-game” comics are amusing I hope we get to see more of the regular comics again soon. I’m starting to lose interest with all the comics focused on this one game.
Thats usually my response to things going bad in ship combat games. And with your reference in the blurb, favorite thing in that game, I now want to see Kade as Vyce from Skies of Arbadia
ALL OF THEM!!
TWICE!
Thrice?
Fries
With ketchup?
“The couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance!”
I forgot which general that was; but, I think he was a Confederate and his last name started with a ‘Z’. 🙂
John Sedgewick, Union general.
Famous last (possibly apocryphal) words!
Even the ones on the other side. What do you mean I don’t know how to do a spin maneuver? It’s just the same as chasing your tail!
The overkill tactic. A favorite of mine.
Killed by another player , attacked by a skeleton , killed again by a canonball …….. Something makes me think this game hates you , Nicole X_X
you meant to type Ni-kill-e
c:
XD
Is any part of this game fun?
A short part where you can troll other players.
Sure! …for whoever’s fighting against Nicole! 😉
You have to play with friends and make your own fun. It’s very much a sandbox game. If you just do what the game tells you it gets old really fast.
I’m pretty sure even for a sandbox game, this game is kinda lacking.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game that’s drawn as much of a “STOP HAVING FUN GUYS!” response from random people on the internet as SoT.
Wel I mean… it lives up to its name, at least?

I dunno why, but I wanna see more of Nicole with her hat lowered liked that, seriously she comes off as some major bad ***.
She looks awesome in all the SoT strips
All the cannons!
Canon?
Oops… sorry.
Riley’s slowly getting better at dealing with glowing skulls, I see.
I like Riley’s Pirate look. Really suits her.
I was trying to get Nicole to look like Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean while still using clothes that are in Sea of Thieves.
I pretty much have the same look as Nicole. Mostly Sea Dog stuff except for the hat.
But again I like the look you gave Riley.
There are two N’s in “Cannon”.
That must be why it hit her so hard, it was “Official Canon”!…I’ll see myself to the door.
…wow, you really dropped the *ball* there.
Don’t you mean three N’s in “cannon”. ;3 Sorry, I’ll go sit in the corner.
Pffffftt! You knew what I meant! >:T
Oh my god! They killed Nicole!
Oh, and it’s spelled “cannon”.
Worst part is that I spelled MoonStone Cannon wrong too… now I have to go replay Skies of Arcadia.
I so LOVE that game. it’s one the ones that I miss when it was only for the Dreamcast. that and Phantasy Star Online. X3
I caught that reference in the blurb! <3
The demented ferret is back for Riley , in the second panel ^_^
Then i love her face and Rick’s one , in the fifth panel
*looks at the sails*
Seems that Kade is afraid of blue shells , but not blue dolphins ^_^”
I like watching the cannonball fly in while Nicole’s talking in panel four too. 🙂
Perpetual joke XD
AND well executed!

Someone serve up the pinto beans and muffins. They will compliment the main dish of REVENGE!
Some meta irony about dogs being attack by skeletons.
HA! MoonStone Cannon, FIRE! Now you made me want to play Skies of Arcadia again.
What version you like best, DC or GameCube?

Yeah. Doesn’t help the fact that this game blows chunks.
Pesonally, I think these in-game comics are a blast. And I’m not even a “gamer”! 🙂
Besides; it would get even more boring if they never played a turkey of a game.
IMHO…of course. 😉
I appreciate that, outside of the blurb’s obvious reference, the emblem they have on the sail is Fina’s flag design.

Nicole in fourth panel : http://www.savestatecomic.com/2015/03/snowed-in/
To compare with Riley in the second panel all above ^_^
INSTADEATH !!
Release the Jolly Roger!

While rereading this I suddenly wondered, is her ‘All of them’ in the last panel a Deadpool reference or is it just a coincidence?
OMG! Tim, I just saw you drew you a Delphinus on the flag of the ship. That is such a nice touch. As a fellow Skies of Arcadia fan I salute you 🙂
Eat a banana , Nicole . You’ll feel better after ^_^”
I love startled Riley!
I mean, I love most Riley’s but I particularly love startled Riley.
If it hurt, she sure is handling it well.
Do you have the email I sent you?
The skeletons are really very mad at Nicole : with three persons on the deck , she’s the targeted one ^_^”
Y’know, for this entire arc, I actually thought Riley was wearing some kind of dress under that longcoat. Pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong!
Yes but no , as we can “guess” in this strip : http://www.savestatecomic.com/2018/04/sea-dogs/ ^_^”
Nicole cannot stay alive in this game, can she?
Nero: F I R E E V E R Y T H I N G
So Harvey scares/worries Riley? But cursed skulls in Sea Of Thives she completely fine with?! That’s one messed up mind
