The 3DO was one company’s attempt to make one device to play all games, such as a DVD player would play every movie. The plan was to get every company to develop games on it, then any hardware company could make the system like any electronics company can make a DVD player. The reason it failed was because neither Sega nor Nintendo were willing to go along with it, so it never went anywhere.
Huh, I think you’re right. Looking at the first few strips, the outlines were more pronounced, then they got thinner, and here we are. I think I like it, personally.
From the sounds of it, the estate was haunted before they got there. Harvey was probably buried there. Nicole, unwittingly, wakes him up and he’s been haunting the estate ever since.
Nicole did not summon Harvey; he was already at the estate when they moved in. Nicole spotted him in the back yard through a window. Amusingly, Kade could not see Harvey at first and thought Nicole was trying to put something over on him.
Oh no, mystery. Please tell me this comic isn’t going to suddenly shift to supernatural mystery solving and be less and less about video games. This kind of stuff when the firstclues are dropped aabout something is always when webcomics seem to change.
This comic feels to me to be somewhat analogous to the dream world appearance of a certain gryphon in Housepets. I sense the evolution of a larger narrative in Harvey’s reference to “waking up”
Side note: in the last panel, it should be “set up” (the verb) rather than “setup” (the noun).
That’s an interesting parallel, particularly since the comic seems heavily influenced by Housepets with the tagged collars and all. Two differences being the absence of humans, of course, and the supernatural creature not having any memories prior to their summoning.
I see a light mistake (from my point of view) in the first panel : Riley being looking at Harvey , the eyes would be down , normally , in place to be up as she was looking at the ceiling ?
Aww, they’re becoming friends
Since he “woke up”? I wonder who woke him up.
Woke up hmmm…. The plot thickens.
Also is 3DO meant to be 3DS? Or is a 3DO an actual thing that I don’t know about
It’s an actual console. Don’t think it lasted very long, but the company that made it did make a handful of games for other systems.
It was around from about 1993-96.
Ah I see, very interesting

One of the most benign, senselessly-optimistic business schemes to come out of that decade.
Have to give them credit for trying to go against the current of capitalism, I guess.
Probably not. I imagine Nintendk executives have likely all been given wards against black magic a long time ago.
Ha! Always wanted a 3DO. Anyways, noticed Star Trek colors on the cartridges.
The red-striped ones are doomed to break by the end of this arc.
It’s just me or the outline of the characters are really thick lately?
I dunno… it gives a strange air to the comic, but…. just saying
Huh, I think you’re right. Looking at the first few strips, the outlines were more pronounced, then they got thinner, and here we are. I think I like it, personally.
Yeah, I personally prefer the thinner ones, I don’t know…. They make the comic look smoother for me
So does this mean that it’ll fall on Riley to learn Harvey’s past?
Wait, did Nicole summon Harvey?

He says “when we were ten.” I’m sure that was a looooong time before they inherited the estate, which is what’s haunted.

That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.

Did he steal souls… by convincing them to buy Deadly Towers?
Poor Riley… She has to deal with the spirit again…
But at least she’s learning how to deal with it rather than it leaving her locked up in terror.
She might be hiding the fact she almost wet herself in terror

Next , Riley’s shop is haunted by doomed kids ……….. ^_^”
…or to make more Metroid games?
No… But it can convince them to make more shin megami tensei games.
Notice a slight difference to the art in this one.
Hmm, if Harvey made the circle he woke up in, does that mean that the circle will give Riley a “new friend”?

From what Harvey is saying in the fourth panel , it reveals that someone had invoked/resurrected him
It would be funny if Harvey was unknowingly resurrected by Kade & Nicole when they made an error in some spell they were casting in a game. 🙂
Or maybe this : http://www.savestatecomic.com/2014/09/demonic-candy/
I see a light mistake (from my point of view) in the first panel : Riley being looking at Harvey , the eyes would be down , normally , in place to be up as she was looking at the ceiling ?
I interpreted that as Riley rolling her eyes, which… would be quite fitting for the circumstance.
It’s a possibility
