The plushy, being Nicole’s as a pup, is female to Nicole. I don’t think it’s ever been positively confirmed that the entity currently -inhabiting/trapped inside- that plushy is female. HOWEVER; I think Harvey generally refers to Ness as female, and I -think- he is assumed to have some previous history with that entity and would likely know if anyone does.
