Plastic Arsenal
I know that’s not exactly how 13 Dead End Drive works, but you have to make it sound good if you want to entice a couple of ghosts.

Better than having them play Jumanji….
Well, if it’s like the movie, then yeah, that would be bad. If it’s just a regular non-magical board game, then sure. 🙂
For some reason i have to agree with harvy mainly because i would had said the samething
Remember Nightmare? the VCR board game? That was awesome. good times. :3
The only interactive VCR game I’ve ever played was one a friend had. I remember it had mechs in it, but nothing else. Might have been Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future…
I remember that show! I used to have some VCR tapes that worked with a toy fighter that could “shoot” at things on the screen and get points. Only problem with it was that it couldn’t go past 25 points, so I never was able to keep an accurate score.
Still, the last board game that worked with the VCR that I played was Harbingers. When I played, there was a race right at the start just to see who could get to the werewolf token to play as it. Best play I ever had was right after I finished my turn, the tape stopped us, and everyone else lost their turn. It then it asked me what my number was (which I had a 6 for my starting skull,) and got that many free turns. ^_^ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Harbingers
Interestingly enough, The Harbingers was the last VCR game i recall that was made by the guys that made Nightmare. The 6 skulls were the harbingers, but the other 6 pieces were the original members in Nightmare. They also had boardgames named after each of the 6 characters as well, but were not as popular as Nightmare and The Harbingers. The Harbingers also went by the name “Atmosphere” in certain countries. Good times <3
I remember that show & once it got cancelled quickly Wal-Mart stores sold the toys at HUGE discounts!
for example the planes & anti-aircraft guns were $10 or so!
They were retailed at $30-$40 originally! o.o
My family still has that game. It’s actually quite fun, and even though you know when the gatekeeper will come on screen after the first couple plays, its still fun competing for all the keys.
13 Dead End Drive sounded familiar… then I remembered a Board James episode on it. XD
I like Nicole’s face in panel three waiting for Harvey’s and Ness’s reaction
Yup; my favorite too; especially her eyes!
13 Dead End Drive! My childhood!
(whispers) then your childhood is long gone, buddy.
Seeing as the last two strips have been about Board Games, I think I have come to the conclusion that:
1. The theme has changed from ‘beach’ to ‘board games’. I find this reassuring due to the presence of air conditioning indoors.
2. Tim’s summer must have recently taken a boring turn.
Everyone had enough mandatory fun at the beach.
Besides, what better way to celebrate E3 than by ignoring it and playing some board games? ;3
This is the best way I can think of for celebrating E3 😀
Why not play board games AT E3 but still ignore it?
I can toatally see Kade as an orc commander standing before his leader with that EXACT expression in his face saying “The hoard are becoming restless, master, they want for fresher meat! Let us feed them the HOBBITS!”
For clarification: Orc commander’s face= Kade, panels 1&5. Orc leader’s face= Ness, panel 2
Oh, McGruff! I remember him! You even added in his quote! XD
The way Ness and Harvey brighten up regarding the game is also adorable.
Seeing this reminds me of the good old Clue game back in the 1970s’ or 1980’s that still had the pewter weapon pieces sharp enough to hurt. Then again we lost some of them but soft lead does wonders for crafting board game pieces. I am curious if Kade and Nicole will ever play a Lego Video game. I know in a prior strip the were on a mad venture with building Hyrule Castle. Hehe.
Love Harvey and Ness’s suddenly interested faces in the third panel ; too , their disappointed ones in the last
Is there any way to convince Kale and Nicole to cosplay from the Bayonetta games? I’m sure Nicole would laugh her fuzzy **** off to see Kale in gun-heels…
Ah, 1313 Dead End Drive was my childhood. I believe that is a sequel or remake of 13 Dead End Drive. I still have it in my closet, no one ever wants to play with me though, it’s like Monopoly. I can never get anyone to play with me, and when they do want to play, I don’t feel like playing a board game.
I guess you gotta get a ghost interested in board games somehow. 13 Dead End Drive is a perfect way to do that.
I played the French version of 13 Dead End Drive (called La Course à l’Héritage) once. For me, it’s a hardcore version of Clue (Cluedo in French).
They had a game a long time ago about taxi’s where you tried to murder people and got points for it…totally 3d too. 😀 but on the lesser dark end of things. That sounds like an awesome game, but I have never heard of it D: Harvey needs to be more thankful ;p
Nicole’s expression in panel 3 is adorable XD

“No, Harvey, you can’t make a LARP out of this.”
