Well it’s evident that Kade is a computer engineer and not an engineer engineer, nor is he a history buff, Nicole to as she doesn’t correct him. As that is not a trebuchet, because it has no rope held cup at the end.it is a solid armed catapult, such a machine needs a barrier to stop how far the arm can swing. A worthwhile attempt though.
Here’s to hoping for more TotK content, it was a shame so little happened for BotW.
Looks a lot more like a simplified trebuchet than a catapult though, because of the powering mechanism. Also; we can’t really see the far end of the throwing arm. There may be a sling mount embedded in the end of the arm. After all, this is “in-game” simplified graphics we’re looking at.
You may be right! But, I believe it’s more of a trebuchet. 🙂 ymmv 😉
I can’t say I’ve tried this specifically, but the game does have very strong physics. Lots of the game’s puzzles have link and other physics objects being flung around, so it is quite possible!
All you need to get to Hyrule Castle is a flame emitter and a balloon, and you can get those gadgets pretty easily. Then combine them with a nearby slab and you got a hot air balloon… that’s how I got to Hyrule Castle early on.
Ah, reminds me of the “White bird” quest to find a temple. you get to fling yourself across the room like that lol. Some of these temples are kinda fun and inventive.
To make the trebuchet work properly and fling yourself where you want to go, you need a stop arm to arrest the motion at the point that gives you the proper arc to your destination.
Trebuchets don’t use a stop, catapults do. I’m not quite sure how the release mechanism works, but no ‘stop’ is required. Trebuchets lasted longer because of this, even though they could be more powerful and fling heavier stuff farther. 🙂
out of everything i have made. I have yet to make a trebuchet…
I have made 21 log long sticks. i have made a four hot air balloon rising platform. soooo many cars for hauling things around. A jetpack… but never a trebuchet
Love that kade is trying to siege Hyrule castle though

edit: “because of the powering mechanism” -and also the location of the pivot point. 🙂
Video game physics isn’t usually this complex… Have people built this in Zelda IRL?

heck with 3-4 planes and a few rockets you can reach it from the starting island

At least he’s not crucifying Koroks. Something I imagine Leo would be doing in this circumstance.
Harvey might do that. But he’s a bit more creative so maybe he’ll try a breaking weal or something.
