The levels of insanity Kade is willing to go through never ceases to amaze me. To quote Bruno from The Whiteboard “I wanna unscrew his head and see what makes him tick…”
Heh! I don’t think I’ve made it to that quote yet. 🙂 I recently started reading their archive and have a ways to go. Hmm… I should pull my SaveState book out and start rereading that too!! 🙂
Hey, Ness! Do they make chainsaws with electric starters??
The last time I saw a “Beware of the Leopard” sign, I instead found myself in a disused lavatory with a filing cabinet stuck inside. I felt lied to and ripped off.
For those who have not encountered the quotes being discussed above, it’s from “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams.
The protagonist, Mr. Arthur Dent, is protesting that the local Council is going to knock his house down and put up a bypass.
Mr. Prosser said: “You were quite entitled to make any suggestions or protests at the appropriate time you know.”
“Appropriate time?” hooted Arthur. “Appropriate time? The first I knew about it was when a workman arrived at my home yesterday. I asked him if he’d come to clean the windows and he said no he’d come to demolish the house. He didn’t tell me straight away of course. Oh no. First he wiped a couple of windows and charged me a fiver. Then he told me.”
“But Mr. Dent, the plans have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months.”
“Oh yes, well as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn’t exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them had you? I mean like actually telling anybody or anything.”
“But the plans were on display…”
“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the display department.”
“With a torch.”
“Ah, well the lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But look, you found the notice didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard.”
Why not just buy a few hundred tokens somewhere? That would solve the problem.
They only have one machine anyhow, what he needs is a few machines for an authentic experience. Half the fun is the way the different lights & sounds interact.
It’s Kade, he wanted to replicate the full real experience. Go back a few weeks Nicole even asked him which button emulates inserting a coin but he explained he put in a real coin slot.
That’s strange : since Ness has warned Kade about the coin , he’s not playing and lets Nicole or Harvey do it ……….. Should be using them both as testers , to see what will happen ?
Oh yeah. I see what you mean. Well, I’m pretty sure Kade alreade played the game whilst testing the arcade machine before he inserted the coin which he wasn’t really paying attention in regards of it being cursed.
But it does seem possible what you’re suggesting thoigh.

At least it wasn’t a leopard in a leotard.

Am I the only one wondering why he doesn’t just set it to open play? It is for private use, right? Why does it need to charge?
Think about it this way. Kade is the maker. He takes authenticity way to seriously.

I know, but even authentic machines can be switched to free play.
But he wants to put the coin in, he wants it to be exactly like playing at the original arcade as a kid.
will my comment show up now?
(oh good it shows up)
When did they get a chainsaw anyway?

Sounds pretty out of charachter.
Usually , he’s pretty quick to play ; and there , no ………..
Um… I didn’t understand that. Could you rephrase yourself?
Was meaning : Kade is always the first to play ; why he lets Nicole and Harvey begin here ? Because the warning from Ness about a curse on the coin ?
Oh yeah. I see what you mean. Well, I’m pretty sure Kade alreade played the game whilst testing the arcade machine before he inserted the coin which he wasn’t really paying attention in regards of it being cursed.

Ooooorrr… instead of Rube Goldberging it… just remove some certain key parts from the coin mech.
Obviously the solution is to set up a free play arcade machine that spits out tokens as rewards. Thus the circle of tokens is complete.
Heck, you could even have it built into the cabinet itself as the only non-token game if you wanted to simplify the coin mechanics.
Man no matter what Kade always has a trick up his sleeve. That’s why he’s my favorite. 🦊🐾
