Seriously, though, I’m not usually one for bringing up relationships in comics, but I really think that they’d go great together. Plus, since the comic is primarily abut video games, we wouldn’t have to worry about a bunch of relationship drama. They could hit off a perfect relationship, Riley would become a regular character, and the game store would be a perfect setting for regular video game discussions with new and unique characters outside of Nicole, Kade, Rick, and Harvey and Ness (like this new spotted yellow fellow).

If they call themselves a gamer they can go into a game shop and helping out the cashier that’s being bugged by a guy? That’s just being friendly? I’ll admit, a lot of what I said was in anger. I’ve only recently discovered this comic and I thought I knew what I was getting. A comic about two siblings and their friends who love video games. None of this relationship ****. If you really don’t believe this is the direction the comic is going then I wish I had your optimism, but the signs are there, this what Tim wants nothing is going to change that.
I find this to be a decent way the character is going, as she work at a game store and they can talk about different games. They have a common interest, and that’s nice.

You seem to be confused about the concept of ‘character development’ whereby a character, being organic, grows and evolves over time rather than being a flat, static character. It’s certainly neither ‘foolish’ nor ‘unnecessary’ and certainly not ruining the comic to have one of the characters grow and change over time and develop new relationships including romantic relationships that they might not have been suited for initially. He would hardly be the first and certainly not the last avid gamer to realize that there’s more to life than games.
But who is to decide what makes a character good or not? Certainly not you, nor me. It’s the author. Just cause you thought you knew the character, and the author develops him further, that makes it “ruined”?
Well it’s a little dissapointing to discover a new comic, read through the whole thing, think I know what’s about and what expect and have the characters figured out, only to have the status quo upended after nearly two years of almost no changes and zero character development. I feel like I’ve been decieved and I’ve only been reading it for a couple weeks. Can’t imagine how someone who’s been reading since the beginning and isn’t a fan of romance plots must feel.
To be fair he’s certainly allowed to decide if it’s ruined FOR HIM just as we all are, it’s just going too far to imply or outright state that the character should be considered ruined for everyone else as well.

Because it doesn’t look like he’s had any of the traits removed that you apparently loved before, and all we’ve seen so far is him interacting in a friendly fashion with a female for a change instead of males. What, pray tell, is so horrific about that? Even if he was showing romantic interest in her (which so far he hasn’t, that was only being used as something to tease him about by his sister and friend) the character still has all those original traits, a romantic attraction on his part to her isn’t removing any of that. Do you hate the idea of someone being shown feeling romantic or even it being hinted at happening that much?
I must say it comes off quite baffling that you think either of them relating with someone of the opposite *** in a possibly romantic fashion to be something that would lessen or ruin the brother-sister portion of the comic. I mean I shouldn’t have to point this out but teasing a sibling over a possible relationship is actually part of said dynamic.
brian, I know exactly where your concerns are coming from and I just wanted to assure you Savestate’s strong sibling aspect will always be a main features in this comic. Tim built it around a close sibling pair of gamers for a reason and he’s not going to abandon that in favor of a boring relationship comic. (Trust me, Tim and I rage about Big Bang Theory ALL THE TIME and how Amy ruined Sheldon!!!!) I hope you’ll stick with the comic awhile longer and give Tim a chance to introduce Riley properly.

Oh, it’s totally fine! Actually I think it’s a good thing that a possible change in character dynamic brought about such a strong response. It shows people are invested in the comic’s future! I hope Savestate continues to impress. Tim puts a lot of thought into it but mainly he just follows his gut instinct. If something’s not funny, entertaining, or at least cute to him then it probably will never be included in this comic.
Well, personally I’m hoping to see what Tim decides for his characters, as long as it remains his decision and it isn’t swayed disproportionately by the very vocal opinions of the few.
I suspect that this is what matters to most people – they’re coming here to see Tim’s (and yours too!) creative stories and work. After all – it’s what you guys bring to the story that makes it good.
It would be a shame to see (Furry) Drama™ influence that. Your audience wouldn’t know who the authors are anymore.
Tim can be very difficult to sway once he’s made up his mind, so I wouldn’t worry about him being influenced too much. He’s got Savestate pretty well planned out for awhile in advance and I think it’s safe to say you’ll continue to see his own unique brand of humor and storytelling.
And thank you for the compliments, but this comic is entirely Tim’s work. I’m always happy to proofread when he asks, or give an opinion on the layout or artwork if it just seems wonky to him, but he does 99.9% of it on his own ^-^

I hate how the price of games is raising for no reason at all. I just want to buy some Dreamcast and GameCube games, but their prices have skyrocketed for no reason.
I’m happy I got a GameBoy Player for my GameCube when GameStop sold them. I got it for $10 from GameStop, and now that they’ve stopped selling them, all the listings are for $60.
I bet anyone who’s ever worked at a game store would agree that Mr. “My crappy old games should be worth all the money in your cash register” is the most annoying type of customer. Narrowly edging out Mr. and Mrs. “We’re going to drop off our kids and let you babysit them while they hog the display Wii for the next three hours”.

Though I learned the other day that Pokémon games can still get a decent amount each. Took some games to sell, expecting around four bucks, and left with almost 15, just because one of them was Diamond.
Yeah, in the days before the playstation-store, I had to go two two or three out of the way used game stores to find the PS1 games I missed out on, because the E-bay prices were so outrageous. Worst I ever say was when someone wanted 100+ dollars for a used copy of FF8, not even the box, just the disk.
I was at a game store yesterday, even the prices there are being blown up. $60 for Mario Kart 64 and Smash 64, $70 for Mario Kart Double Dash, $50 for Luigi’s Mansion and Mario Sunshine, $60 for all the Zelda games on the GameCube.
It’s really annoying because I know most of those games are worth $15 to $25 at most, and that’s the price I got them at when GameStop sold them.
As we have seen , all characters of this comic have the same size (more or less) ………………………….. So , the rabbit in the first panel is a boy or an adult ? (sized as all rabbits are normally)

It’s really annoying because I know most of those games are worth $15 to $25 at most, and that’s the price I got them at when GameStop sold them.
A tricking question :
As we have seen , all characters of this comic have the same size (more or less) ………………………….. So , the rabbit in the first panel is a boy or an adult ? (sized as all rabbits are normally)
You should do a skit about them finding an old copy of E.T. and all of them just trying to exorcise it or something! XD
Maybe if Kade buys another few copies of Duck hunt he can build a tourist attraction. Maybe he can make like a dignified statue of himself out of the games he has.

I can’t see this going very far for Kade. Sure, she works in a game shop, but they’re very likely to go nowhere in this relationship, they aren’t even the same personality types.
