Yes, the disgust with sports is real. It mirrors my 3D life, so I understand completely. I have SO little interest in “handegg” that this year, when there was a ‘superbowl’, I only learned about it when I saw it mentioned somewhere online. I think the game was half over by then, but I didn’t care. I don’t know who won or whatever, but I DID go looking on the youtubes for some of the better commercials. I liked the avacado aliens from the future! ๐
if this is the game i think it is i had the pirate one xD i didn’t get to play it much cus it took up too much room on the floor and parents got annoyed at the little plastic cannon ***** getting lost under the couch
Only if a drunk fan is streaking across the in-field. Other wise, it just moves so SLOW!! And all the ritual superstitions on the part of the fans and the players that just bogs down play! Take your pastoral sport back out to the corn field and keep it there. And send in some real Gladiators.
Oh really? Seemed an easy win, just had to make my deals more subtle, less obvious and most importantly never ever let them think they just got screwed…but think they screwed me.
Well I can tell you every game of Monopoly ended. Some swipes a hand over the board and says, “**** THIS GAME! I’ve been here for hours! You win I don’t care anymore!” Of course it’s usually me.
Unless it includes swords, magic, ray guns, spaceships, the undead, mutants, aliens, psychic powers, monsters, or some mix of those it’s not a real game. Sports games are an unfortunate byproduct of the gaming industry.
I don’t like sports games, but at least you get to play the game instead of watching it be played.
The thing that gets me is how people can buy a new sports game every year when the rules are always going to be the same. Although, I do like how NFL 15 lists more realistic sweat as a feature. https://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/news/2014/new-feature-enhanced-graphics
I wonder which year we’ll get sweat drops that slightly change the color of that 3D “infinite grassโ technology!
I was looking through an island shelf of discounted games at Vintage Stock a week or two ago, and 80% of them were football…I find it simultaneously funny and painful
I know that it might sound crazy but anyone can watch football. It just requires some imagination and the most basic level of knowledge about the game. The trick is to stay minimally involved and focus more on interacting with the other people watching than actually watching the game. Or just bring a book or a smart phone.
I’m guessing Kade and Nicole never bring their smartphones for entertainment. (Or if they even have one.) Is video games their only form of entertainment?
Thank you Board James for telling me what that game is, or I would be really confused about that.
My family insisted on watching the Super Bowl. I sat on my computer watching YouTube, and when the commercials came on I’d sometimes pause the video to watch those.
Weapons and Warriors! Now that was a real game. Spring loaded catapults and ballistias. One good shot could completely turn the tables in one round. All kids should get to play that game. Someone call the Whitehouse, we need to pass a bill.
At least they are keeping the kinds out of trouble.
@Iron Ed – could have been worse, they Kade could have decided on finding an excuse to just go back home.
I don’t despise the ball games, just not a fan of watching any sport really. For some of them, I’d rather just play than watch.
“…could have been worse…” does not excuse Kade’s rudeness. NONE of this was Roger and/or Amber’s fault; it was all on Kade. And the kids were already being good (so far… ;-)).
Agreed. I don’t give anyone grief about what type of shows they watch; I just don’t join them if it’s not something I like. To each his/her own! ๐
I was about to say “he’s on another couch to the left \ right” but then I checked the previous strips and they only have one so I’m guessing bathroom break or something
Wow, the disgust with sports is real. Wonder if Amber and Roger realize how big gamers Nicole and Kade are.
If not, they’ll probably understand soon.

I remember that game. I had every castle set and the pirate set. I found them looking through my old toys.
if this is the game i think it is i had the pirate one xD i didn’t get to play it much cus it took up too much room on the floor and parents got annoyed at the little plastic cannon ***** getting lost under the couch
I am so like Kade it is scary o.o
Wow, me and Kade aren’t all that far off either…
Hey, wanna play apples to apples?! :DDD
Pfft, why play that when you can play a true game! Pac-man the board game. :3
I saw “real tabletop game” and my mind immediately filled in the last panel with D&D before I even read it. Somewhat disappointed, actually.
I am amused that the “real tabletop game” is played on the floor. ๐
Exactly my line of thinking, even though I’ve never played an “actual” tabletop RPG in my life.
Looks like the party upstairs is better anyway.
I kinda feel sory fo Amber and Roger. They sure didn’t mean something bed with inviting them to watch NFL
Yeah, Made & Nicole are being a bit rude to their hosts. But I know they’ll make it up to them.
**** autocorrect. Kade.
Yay, for Whitemagecontent! =D
Good to see I’m not the only sportsball hater.
Okay, I get the disdain towards football, but baseball’s okay right?

“The only true sports are boxing, bull fighting, and auto racing.” – Ernest Hemingway
…and the only one of those three -I- ever cared about was auto racing. ๐
They’re all boring. BOOORRRIIIINNNGG!! >_<
Gladiators should be brought back! Now that was an exciting sport.
Hey comon…. Monopoly IS a real tabletop game, just as long as you don’t play it with a business major you’re fine!
Oh really? Seemed an easy win, just had to make my deals more subtle, less obvious and most importantly never ever let them think they just got screwed…but think they screwed me.
XD I know what you mean, my sister is a business major. Hardest negotiator ever!
Well I can tell you every game of Monopoly ended. Some swipes a hand over the board and says, “**** THIS GAME! I’ve been here for hours! You win I don’t care anymore!” Of course it’s usually me.

I was looking through an island shelf of discounted games at Vintage Stock a week or two ago, and 80% of them were football…I find it simultaneously funny and painful
Eh, I don’t think there’s enough lead in it to worry about.
I know that it might sound crazy but anyone can watch football. It just requires some imagination and the most basic level of knowledge about the game. Well, there is the question of where they would keep it.
They keep their phone and wallet in their collars. That was one of the reasons I made the collars so large (the other being it looked cute).
Too bad Hearthstone drains the battery so fast…
Question: Shouldn’t it be “any more”? I’m just asking because I’m not a native English speaker ๐
“Anymore” is used more in the US while others tend to use “any more.” It’s kind of like “gray” vs “grey.”
I still have that game!! It’s awesome!
I think I’d still pick lead poisoning over watching football. ~_~
Thank you Board James for telling me what that game is, or I would be really confused about that.
My family insisted on watching the Super Bowl. I sat on my computer watching YouTube, and when the commercials came on I’d sometimes pause the video to watch those.
I was SOOO close to putting a Metroid hat on Kade just like Board James. XP
Weapons and Warriors! Now that was a real game. Spring loaded catapults and ballistias. One good shot could completely turn the tables in one round. All kids should get to play that game. Someone call the Whitehouse, we need to pass a bill.
It’s nice to see Amber and Roger apparently root for the same team. ๐
On the other hand… Kade; you are being -really- rude to your hosts! It’s not their fault that you didn’t pay attention to the invitation.
At least they are keeping the kinds out of trouble.
@Iron Ed – could have been worse, they Kade could have decided on finding an excuse to just go back home.

At least Kade kept his phone in his collar. ;3
Kade in first panel : perfect image of full boredom ^^”
Question : where Roger is ?
Love Nicole grinning in the last panel (and her smiling tbpthbptp in her balloon word) . But why Chris’s face makes me to think to Rick ? 0_o
I was about to say “he’s on another couch to the left \ right” but then I checked the previous strips and they only have one so I’m guessing bathroom break or something
Got to get pop-corn ? ^^”
Eat this plastic castle ………………………………………..
I hope Kade has a strong stomach ? ^^”
OH MY GOD They named the kids Chris and Claire! and nobody seemed to bat an eye surprisingly. i’ll bet Chris has a bear friend named Barry ๐
Barry Burton the bear. Now we’re getting into some Marvel level alliterations.
I’d suggest you do a VDSD post, but your comic already has plenty of nudity XD
HUH ; Kade meaning that “Monopoly” isn’t a real tabletop game . 0_o
But he has played it , before to say such ? ^_^”
Chris is looking at that castle wanting to eat the plastic *pulls phone out of my collar and gets ready to dial 911*
