O.O Why is the cutting edge of the blade resting on kade’s shoulder in panel 1? It can’t be so confusing that he could potentially cut off his arm, right?
I personally thought he was holding it slightly above his shoulder, thus not actually harming him.
Then again, with it being behind his neck, it’s hard to tell properly.
Though to be honest, it’s Kade. Pretty sure that he’s not aware that he’s supposed to get hurt by those things anyway.
Gotta go replay the game but I am pretty sure that the Mondo’s edge is blunt as can be. Kinda acts like a Sword Shaped Mace then anything else against anything other then the Mech Monsters ingame. Even then it activates and goes a bit lightsabery…
I guess it also depends on how heavy the blade is… Most swords are quite heavy but you never know; this one isn’t like any sword we have on our planet… though it would be cool.
Traditionally, a properly sharpened sword won’t cut through paper like a knife through warm butter. The sharper the edge, the more likely it is to chip and break. So a sword is sharp in the sense that it can but through a body (or three for a truly legendary sword), but not so sharp that you don’t have to put some force behind it.
A.k.a. Kade really has nothing to worry about. Even if the sword was that sharp, he’s currently a video game character, so real world physics have hardly any meaning.
Actually, the way a sword cuts is depending on if you bring a good amount of for in a arc, or jab. The sword, no matter how sharp the sword is, it will do NOTHING unless force is applied, simply sliding may slightly give him a abrasion, but nothing to worry about. It’s like a axe, but shaped different/
Thanks. I love the face Kade makes at the moment of impact. I tried to turn it into an avatar, but when you crop down to just Kade it looks like he’s dancing to Thriller.
But then it would make more sense for Nicole to be having that expression. After all, she’s the one who can see C’thulhu’s cousin, or whatever the heck the Skelebunny God is.
Shulk is one of those characters who is terrible unless you’re really skilled at using him. He has so much lag, most of his good moves have to sweetspot, and keeping on top of his Mondo buffs is a pain.
Not saying he’s bad, just saying he’s not a character you can just pick up and do well with like Fox or Mario.
That dog… forever taunting me and my poor aim with the zapper…
So Kade can’t read the Monado? Surprising since Shulk comments on every different art used. A shame the other Monado arts didnt make it in as different movesets. Anyone else think that the different costumes of Shulk should feature the different swords he can use? 😛

Because until the Monado is activated it’s basically a fancy club. It’s really a lightsaber with a truly elaborate hilt.
And don’t forget that Nicole has a natural advantage as duck hunt!

shulk is actually one of my favorite characters. unfortunately for Kade there’s a learning curve to fighting as him.
